Helen

Helen bought an old concertina in a Bermondsey junk shop many years ago.  It was unplayable, so she forked out £50 for a reconditioned Wheatstone.  This was a good investment and inspired her to practise and to attend courses by Alastair Anderson, Norman Chalmers and others.  She later bought some Hamish Moore smallpipes and was taught by Hamish.

Helen played for many years with the Skelpit Lug and Shiftin Bobbins ceilidh bands, has helped with the local Feis sa Mheadhan, and has acquired a Diploma in Gaelic from Sabhal Mor Ostaig.

In her other life she does research on perceptual illusions and occasionally climbs Corbetts, having bagged all the Munros.
