Shiftin Bobbins is a fellowship of musicians (and audience) dedicated to the performance and enjoyment of traditional / folk music in an informal group setting.  We're based in Stirling, Scotland, and have been running a weekly music and song session here since 2002.

We meet at The Settle Inn, St Mary's Wynd, Stirling FK8 1BU every Wednesday from 8 to 11 p.m.  The Settle is Stirling's oldest and best pub, with real ales and a real fire, and it's well worth a visit at any time.

All musicians and singers are welcome at the session and on an average Wednesday there'll be twenty or more people playing and singing.  Visitors from around the world return year after year, contributing a wide range of excellent music.  Musical ability is optional - anyone can play The Audience.  Here's what 3 regulars said when their university studies ended.

The repertoire is mainly Scottish and Irish traditional tunes (jigs, reels, marches, etc.) and songs ranging from bothy ballads and Burns classics to contemporary blues and folk standards.  A number of the songs and tunes have been written by members of the collective.

The main coordinators of the group are Tim, Delia, Helen and Peter.  Tim has transcribed many of the tunes you'll hear on a Wednesday night and they can be found here.

This is one of the better videos of the session.  It was taken by Alastair to record the going-away visit of one of our long-term regulars.
